Drop Alive

developed by Invi Games  |  Platforms: Windows

“A platformer where you control a little drop of water that can transform into ice and steam to overcome its journey.”

“An adventurous and curious water drop is trapped inside a house and needs your help to get back to the place she truly belongs to; a nearby glistening river. Climb a pile of jars, squeeze yourself through pipes and manage to get past a fridge full of stalactites without bursting. Use your wit to change from one state to another (liquid, solid and gas) surpassing every obstacle thrown your way as the game’s difficulty increases.”

Fresco

developed by Yannick Gerometta  |  Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux

“A mind-bending first person exploration / puzzle game, featuring a unique gameplay mechanic. Find your way out by creating a path in the world, via manipulating paintings and placing them on strategic locations.

“You start in a colorless world without any explanation. You quickly find paintings which you can interact with and move. By looking at them, you will notice that they look a lot like your environment. The idea is to use them to your advantage to progress through the world. The game is about exploration, awareness, and analysis of your surroundings. You will have to understand how to use the paintings by finding what they represent, where they have been painted from, and how you could transpose them to the world.”

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap

developed by Lizardcube, published by DotEmu  |  Platforms: Windows (possibly Mac, Linux, & consoles)

“Cursed into a half-human, half-lizard monstrosity by the Meka-Dragon, a lonesome adventurer is facing the challenge of a lifetime! In search for a cure, our mutated anti-hero will explore the many traps of Monster Land… and defeat many stuff-throwing, curse-wielding dragons. How many more transformations can one hopeful body survive as it turns into a Lizard, a Mouse, a Piranha, a Lion, and a Hawk…”

This is a reverse engineered remake of Sega’s Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap.  The developer took apart the code in the original to see how it all worked and has teamed up with an artist to create an authentic (but enhanced) follow up.  You can read more about the process of deconstruction on their dev log here.
