I decided to start up on Instagram. I’m not sure why, it’s pretty? I do quite like the format though. So if deep down you always wished you could follow Screenshot Daily over there, now you can! I’ll still be doing Tumblr and Twitter. :)
“A 2D modern-day character-driven RPG that combines elements from visual novels, shooters and dystopian fiction.
“You take the role as a deserter from an unofficial country, located below the surface of the Earth, and must assemble a team of experts from different parts of the world to prevent the imminent war your homeland is trying to start, dealing with language barriers, planning defense strategies, and learning to work as a team.”
The developers are from Chile and are currently running an IndieGoGo campaign in order to fund the development. There’s a demo available which contains the first 45 min of the game, which you can download here.
I came across an artist on /r/gamedev that’s trying to get back into game art. I like their work so I thought I would share it here. If you’re looking for an artist you can try contacting them on DeviantArt (where you can also see more stuff).
Hopefully in the future (when I get more time) I can do more game related art on top of the regular posts. I think it makes for a nice mix?
“A PS1/N64 style Hack ‘n’ slash-Action RPG platformer. Upgrade your gnome’s abilities with dozens of items and master the 5 elements of sword magic…”
“You are the last free Gnome, on a quest to rescue the enslaved Gnomekin from the evil Fairy King and the spells of his Fairy Daughters. Jump, slash, and twirl your way through mystical worlds riddled with Mushroom Monsters, Kittybats, Gorphs, and more. Harness untold magic and recruit new allies to unleash magical mayhem in the final stand against the tyranny of the evil Fairies.”
There’s a pretty interesting video showing the evolution of the art style and gameplay of the game over the last year. Take a peek below.
“An open world adventure. The player explores, repairs and retells a broken story. Uncover lost characters and hidden things. Truth is in the Telling.”
“An atmospheric turn-based exploration/adventure RPG where you lead a party of travellers in search of treasure-rich temples, new tribes and ways to go down in history – ways to go beyond the horizon. To achieve all that you complete quests building up your reputation to become a sought out explorer by kings and commoners alike.”
“A puzzle platformer that features an innovative use of Kinect, in which your silhouette becomes a “portal” between two worlds. You will find yourself solving puzzles by strategically positioning your body, combining physical interaction with traditional platforming. Be precise, be careful, take on a funny pose, but most importantly, be creative with your body! Every level can be solved in multiple ways, with different poses. What sort of creative solutions can you come up with?”
I’ve never posted about a Kinect game as nothing has really intrigued me before, but this seems like a really interesting take on a somewhat tired genre (platformers). If you know anyone with a Kinect maybe direct them to FRU, looks like it’s getting pretty great reviews so far.
“A shmup with roguelite and bullet hell elements. Rapidly switch between over 30 insane base weapons and counting (plus some relatively sane weapons)! Every time you reload, you transform into another ship with a random weapon.”
“A sports game for 2–4 players. Joined at the waist, you and your partner share a single worm-like body as you wrestle your opponent for control of the ball. It’s a bit like a big hug, or playing soccer with your small intestines.”
“With every action affecting both you and your partner (and mandatory shouting) PMPY combines the best parts of co-op multiplayer with the worst parts of your last breakup.”
A 3D procedural puzzle platformer releasing for PS4 in August.
“Bound transports you into a beautiful, fantastical world that exists in the mind of a woman revisiting the memories of her childhood. You’ll use dance moves to traverse vast environments filled with platforming challenges. As the game progresses, the introspective story unfolds through powerful metaphor and imagery, adding emotional depth to the protagonist’s journey.”
