The Whisperer in Darkness

developed by Nathaniel Nelson, art by Quincy Bowen, music by Mark Sparling

whisperer water whisper house whispere roadwhisperer outside whisperer freak whisperer car

An interactive horror story which is a retelling of  The Whisperer in Darkness, a short story by H.P. Lovecraft.  There isn’t much in the way of gameplay, and it’s more of an atmospheric way to experience a horror novel (with really nice art, and music).

It was made for the Public Game Jam in 2014, and all the assets are open source and free to use.  You can download them, as well as the game from itch.io.  It’s available for PC, and is currently being rewritten for Mac and Linux.

Shark Lake Fisherman

developed by Fabian Jarrett

[gfycat data_id="BabyishHairyArgentinehornedfrog"]

“Get points for each fish that you catch.

The more fish you catch, the more sharks that come.

Avoid the sharks to stay alive.”

I’m keeping it a little quiet today, trying to make something special for next week. :)  (plus work is killing me and I have no broadband internet).

You can download and play Shark Lake from the link below to pass the time!

Geoball

Unknown Developer

“A modern take on classic 3D platformers like Marble Blast. Roll and jump your way through unique hazards and mechanics to collect all the golden triangles and silver hexagons.”

There are 40 different levels, each with a different style and music, and a variety of different types of slick looking balls to unlock.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get into contact with the developer to properly credit him/her (it’s been a month), but you can keep track of the development through the website here.

“An old-school twin stick shooter that takes you to the beautiful ruins of a decadent art deco-meets-cyberpunk world, where humanity is split between warring societies living in mega-towers surrounded by radioactive wasteland.

Your mission, as a member of a special investigative force, is to infiltrate the reclusive Tower 57 and thwart their plans for an invasion that could spell doom for your home tower.”

Floof

developed by Steven Young

[gfycat data_id="ActiveFocusedJunco"][gfycat data_id="BlandDistortedGorilla"][gfycat data_id="DishonestAnyBasilisk"]

“A casual, fun, and cute physics platformer.  You play as a big blubbery blob, bouncing and squeezing your way through different levels, challenges, and environments.  Floof aims to appeal to all ages, while still having more complex features, such as level editors and modding.”

I think the main character would make the perfect stressball.  The things I would do… O.O

Sagittarius

developed by George Prosser

“Competitive cosmic archery.”

“A local multiplayer archery game where the main mechanic is gravity! My goal for this game is to make something that’s fun to play with friends (2-5 players), whilst being as juicy as possible. It was partly inspired by Worms, which I loved when I was younger.”

It’s currently out on itch.io and people seem to be really enjoying it.  Unfortunately, I must play alone. I am always the winner.  :(

Fight through the waves of enemy ships, subs and airships until you are able to face Ahab’s ship the Pequod.”

A narrative driven action platformer with a main character that reminds me of Marvin the Martian.  I miss that guy. :(

Currently in development for PC, and will be released in an episodic format starting at the end of 2015.  You can try the demo below.

“Discovering the dreamlike world of Omnia, the player controls Pankapu, a tiny being created by the God of dreams, Iketomi, in order to defeat the hordes of nightmares that try to infiltrate his world.“
