This is a really neat little game made over the weekend for Ludum Dare. Sorry that the gif feels so rushed, I had a lovely longer gif that kept crashing my computer. :( Anyways check it out at the link below!
developed by Lizardcube, published by DotEmu | Platforms: Windows (possibly Mac, Linux, & consoles)
“Cursed into a half-human, half-lizard monstrosity by the Meka-Dragon, a lonesome adventurer is facing the challenge of a lifetime! In search for a cure, our mutated anti-hero will explore the many traps of Monster Land… and defeat many stuff-throwing, curse-wielding dragons. How many more transformations can one hopeful body survive as it turns into a Lizard, a Mouse, a Piranha, a Lion, and a Hawk…”
This is a reverse engineered remake of Sega’s Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap. The developer took apart the code in the original to see how it all worked and has teamed up with an artist to create an authentic (but enhanced) follow up. You can read more about the process of deconstruction on their dev log here.
“A single-player narrative set on the edge of a cliff overlooking a vast ocean. “You are a 20 year-old woman stuck, balanced precariously over the edge of a cliff in an old rusting car. The sun is gradually disappearing behind the horizon and the blanket of night will soon fall. Through a strange conversation you can attempt to discover your reasons for coming out there, your relationship with nature and if you’ll make it out alive. “
developed Alonso Martin | Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, PS4/Vita, Wii U
“A Metroidvania RPG about a young wizard pursued by a terror in the sky.
“On the night of your coming of age trial, the sky rains fire over your village, scorching everything in its path. Soon, you’re catapulted into an ongoing war between the wizards of the forest and the desert army of the West. Desperate to reunite with your loved ones, you embark on a journey across the landscapes of a beautiful but threatening world, sculpted by the pulsing violence of its past.”
“A 2D side-scrolling ACT and a META game in disguise. As you follow the narrator’s omnipresent voice, you will see through ICEY’s eyes and learn the truth about her world. The narrator will constantly urge you in one direction, but you must ask, “Why? Why am I following his directions?”
“A procedurally generated action adventure game, set in the ruins of a fallen world.”
“Centuries after a mysterious cataclysm tore the world apart, humans have taken to the skies – ferrying their kin in airships, searching the remains for artifacts and survivors. Explorer Névoa ventures out across uncharted islands, left floating in the sky. Alone and armed only with a shovel, she is determined to carve her own path.”
developed by thirtythreegames | Platforms: Windows, Mac, Android, iOS
“A tough as nails game that puts a gravity-defying weapon in your hands. One button lets you fly, the other blasts obstacles out of the way. With a cast of crazed characters, challenging gameplay, and a pulsing musical score, it delivers twitchy platforming goodness.”
“An open-world adventure across a beautiful, vibrant island.”
“The hero of Yonder will explore the island, uncovering its secrets and the mysteries within themself as they embark on a journey of self-discovery, while saving Gemea and its people. On the quest to become the island’s champion, he or she will join forces with natives and Sprites, ethereal creatures who are the only thing capable of dispersing the murk.”
“The towns of Gemea are filled with kind-hearted residents who have faced many difficulties since the arrival of the murk. By contributing to the island through talents like farming, crafting, cooking, fishing and brewing, relationships can be built with the locals, who offer everything from resources to a new farm as rewards.”
developed by Manufacture 43 | Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux
“A 2D shoot’em up with 3D graphics. You play Axo, pilot of the ship named Chukaru. Chukaru, with its abilities, is unique in the way it has been blessed by the gods.”
“In this world, the Pre-Columbian civilizations, ancient and mysterious to us, never ceased. Their culture spread all over the world.
“Instead of using steam then electricity, they mastered light then gravity. With even the most dense rocks “flying”, they started to build immense structures out of stones. Then they went on building flying mineral ships. Through their technology and their wisdom, they managed to make contact with three ethereal and much more powerful beings.”
