Evan’s Remains

“A mystery-thriller puzzle adventure about finding a missing boy: Evan.  The game combines logic-based platform puzzles with narrative inspired by Japanese graphic adventure games.

“Evan, the genius boy, has been missing for years.  One day, a letter signed by him is received, claiming he’s on an uninhabited island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.  Nobody knows why, but he asked specifically for a girl named “Dysis” to go and look for him.  The player will take control of this girl, who we don’t know much about.  As we follow Dysis’s adventure, questions will start to be answered little by little.  All of the little puzzle pieces which seemed unrelated in the beginning will now begin to slowly fit together as the truth is slowly revealed.”

Spirittea

“In Spirittea you play as a writer who has moved to a small town in the countryside in hopes that the change of scenery will help you finish writing your book.  Unfortunately for you, this particular town has been going through some difficult times due to natural disasters, strange accidents and mysterious occurrences.

“After drinking from an ancient teapot you gain the ability to temporarily see into the spirit world only to discover that the town is haunted by a bunch of angry spirits.  It is up to you to re-open the old bath house on the mountain where the spirits once rested, and to search high and low to find and convince them to soak their stress away. “

Gongbat

by Zack Harmon.

A shmup centred around fighting massive bosses with colourful and detailed pixel art.  Featuring an ancient bat that can transform into various forms to unleash its fury.

“Take down colossal boses, tear apart the world around you, and summon the powers of sound.”

Developed completely solo using GameMaker.  I quite like the music as well, it’s from the band Ace Poison which the developer is a part of.  You can take a listen and download it on Bandcamp here.

The game just came out and I haven’t played it yet, as my internet connection hates me.  :(

Layers  |  Drop

both developed by CloudPop Games.

In Layers you have to quickly sort a pile of two differently coloured plates, with bonus points for how fast you can finish.  It was created in 24 hours as a challenge to see if you can make a polished game in a day (read about it here), and you can play it on your computer here.  It’s still in development for mobile platforms.

Drop is a puzzle reflex game where you need to correctly time the start of the circle’s movement to ensure it reaches the end of the level.  It’s slated to be released in April for mobile devices.
