Some of the best pixel art indie games that I have curated or ones that just hit you right in the nostalgia with their retro feel.

Baba Is You

developed by Hempuli Oy  |  Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, Switch

“A puzzle game where the rules you have to follow are present as blocks you can interact with. By manipulating them, you can change how the game works, repurpose things you find in the levels and cause surprising interactions! With some simple block-pushing you can turn yourself into a rock, turn patches of grass into dangerously hot obstacles, and even change the goal you need to reach to something entirely different.”

“The game has over 200 levels that experiment with the game’s mechanics in a multitude of ways, requiring the player to understand and manipulate the rules of the game and figure out devious ways to make the objects in the game world interact.”

Sea Salt

developed by Y/CJ/Y  |  Platform: Windows

“An action strategy hybrid, where you are Dagon, The Old God, the Eldritch force of the sea, summoning unfathomable horrors to blight the human lands. They will pay what they owe, and you will have your vengeance.”

“When humanity prayed you were willing to offer them fair winds for their fishing vessels, and they enjoyed the riches and prosperity you provided. Black Skylands

developed by Konstantin Burov  |  Platform: PC

Black Skylands is a top-down RPG shooter being created by solo developer Konstantin Burov.  It is meant to be a single player only experience and while the developer is open to co-op there aren’t any plans to implement it at this time.  I believe it’s still pretty early in development and although a lot of the mechanics seem to be nicely fleshed out things like the story and quests have yet to be worked into the game.  You will be able to upgrade and customize your character and weapons along with your airship (which is the coolest bit I think). :-)

There isn’t a set release date yet, but a demo is supposed to be in the works and out in February.
