Some of the best pixel art indie games that I have curated or ones that just hit you right in the nostalgia with their retro feel.

Life in the Box

developed by Ars Longa Games  |  Platforms: Windows, iOS, Android

[gfycat data_id="DismalWatchfulBarnacle"][gfycat data_id="HeartyEcstaticBumblebee"][gfycat data_id="SkeletalImaginativeCollie"]

“A point ‘n click adventure where you have to travel to different worlds, and find a way to fix a load of universe scale issues that you caused by your attempt to change time.  You’ll meet a lot of strange creatures, some of them will help you, some of them will create obstacles.”

The music is great, especially the title theme.  Love the mood.

There’s a demo available which you can download from the link at the top of the post on the TIGForums, or play in your browser (not compatible with Chrome).

[gfycat data_id="ZestyAggressiveHeterodontosaurus"][gfycat data_id="DecisiveOblongAnura"][gfycat data_id="CanineAromaticAfricanporcupine"]

A pixel art roguelite platformer heading to Steam Early Access in March.

“Caveblazers is a singleplayer game which attempts to emulate a multiplayer experience by incorporating random encounters with other “players”. These “players” are AI controlled characters which behave like other players and have randomized behavioral characteristics which will depict how they interact with other players. Some will follow and help you, some will run from you, and some will be aggressive towards you.”

“Blitz can only jump, and perform an air dash in one of 4 directions. Upon colliding with an object that doesn’t break you, you are free to dash again. Use this to navigate a variety of challenges and hazards, including spikes, cannons, missiles, lasers, mines and even giant mechanical monsters.”

Pode

developed by Henchman & Goon  |  Platforms: Unannounced

[gfycat data_id="KaleidoscopicLeftKob"]pode game 1 pode game 2

“A puzzle adventure about friendship and cooperation.  Join Bulder the rock and Stella the star on a wonderful journey through an ancient, lush underground world filled with riddles and mysteries.”

I usually wait until there’s a bit more gameplay to show before making a full post, but I just found Pode to be super charming.   It’s still very early in development and looks like a very promising co-op game (that can also be played by one person switching characters).  The development team previously made Flem, which you can check out below.
