Flinthook

developed by Tribute Games  |  Platform: Windows

[gfycat data_id="BountifulRepulsiveDalmatian"][gfycat data_id="BeneficialPertinentCassowary"][gfycat data_id="HarshSlowHoneycreeper"]

An action platformer set in space.  You control a pirate searching various procedurally generated spaceships for treasure using a chain hook, plasma gun, and slow motion abilities.  Not too much info on it yet, but so far the movement and combat look really smooth.

A colourful puzzle platformer which released this week.  Your character can change into different geometric shapes in order to defeat specific enemies, or to solve puzzles.

“The Flat Kingdom is a beautiful and peaceful 2D land, but now it’s threatened by an evil thief and becoming 3D! The only one able to stop the chaos is Flat, a little hero able to change into a circle, triangle or square in order to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles and defeat giant bosses!”

[gfycat data_id="CalculatingNervousHydatidtapeworm"]planet alpha 31 2[gfycat data_id="UnhappyTestyGannet"]planet alpha 31 3[gfycat data_id="FirmDimpledCrayfish"]

“An immersive, story driven puzzle platformer, mixed with bits of agility, action and exploration that takes place in a beautiful but dangerous world.”

“The events take place in a living and constantly changing alien world: real-time day and night cycle affects everything on the planet, the Terra-formation process shapes the landscape before your eyes and the 2nd dimension that became accessible during the incident will offer a special experience.

“The ability to change the planet rotation will allow you to control alien technology and to affect the planet biosphere – this special mechanic is tied to every part of the gameplay, from puzzle solving to platforming and action.”

Glitch Hit

developed by Tony Barks  |  Platforms: Windows (and possibly Mac)

[gfycat data_id="KnobbyImpishDove"][gfycat data_id="IndolentHardtofindGarpike"][gfycat data_id="DefiantQuarrelsomeGroundbeetle"]

“A platformer with the main mechanic being ability to punch through glitches.”

This is still really early in development and currently doesn’t have a website or blog to follow.  The developer does make regular updates to Twitter though, and usually makes a pretty cool gif to show off any newly added mechanics.

Mable & The Wood

developed by Triplevision Games  |  Platforms: Windows, Linux (possibly Mac)

[gfycat data_id="NarrowBitterGraywolf"][gfycat data_id="IdolizedSpecificCuckoo"][gfycat data_id="LinedPlasticBat"]

“A 2D action/exploration game set in a land where the overuse of magic is draining the world of its colour.

“You play the part of a shape-shifting girl who can take the form of the beasts that she slays, but whose power is slowly destroying the world she is trying to save. Explore the world to find the source of the darkness before the forest dies. Will you banish the darkness from the world, or will you become it?”

This has been on my radar since it started as a game jam entry way back when.  Cool to see it keep progressing into a fully fledged game, hope it continues!

2D Puzzle Platformer

developed by FunVenture  |  Platforms: Unannounced

[gfycat data_id="JollyDazzlingIbadanmalimbe"][gfycat data_id="PerkyVapidHawaiianmonkseal"][gfycat data_id="BelovedReasonableJuliabutterfly"]

This a 2D sidescrolling platformer with puzzle elements.  It’s still early in development, pretty much moving from a prototype to an alpha stage.  I don’t normally cover stuff this early (some more gameplay would be nice) but I liked the art style and the main character gave me flashbacks to Cloudface.  They’re really not similar, but my brain can make major leaps. :P

Maybe something to keep an eye on, you can follow along on Twitter.

Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight

developed by Bombservice  |  Platform: Windows

[gfycat data_id="ComposedIncomparableCentipede"][gfycat data_id="AfraidAstonishingIntermediateegret"][gfycat data_id="FlickeringHighlevelBobwhite"]

An action platformer which is 4th in the Momodora series, but a prequel to the rest of the games.

“Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight explores a cursed land in decline. Evil spreads, the dead rise, and corruption reigns. Hope is but a faded memory for all but one, a priestess named Kaho from the village of Lun. An audience with her majesty, the queen, would surely save the land—but time is short and each night darker than the last.”

Caveblazers

developed by Rupert Reckless  |  Platforms: Windows, Mac, & Linux

[gfycat data_id="ZestyAggressiveHeterodontosaurus"][gfycat data_id="DecisiveOblongAnura"][gfycat data_id="CanineAromaticAfricanporcupine"]

A pixel art roguelite platformer heading to Steam Early Access in March.

“Caveblazers is a singleplayer game which attempts to emulate a multiplayer experience by incorporating random encounters with other “players”. These “players” are AI controlled characters which behave like other players and have randomized behavioral characteristics which will depict how they interact with other players. Some will follow and help you, some will run from you, and some will be aggressive towards you.”

Remnants of Naezith

developed by Tolga Ay  |  Platform: Windows, Mac, & Linux

[gfycat data_id="SlimyUniqueHydatidtapeworm"][gfycat data_id="FaroffWhirlwindGrebe"][gfycat data_id="CookedDimpledIguana"]

“A fast-paced platformer which has the grappling hook in it’s core! It focuses on having freedom of movements, solid character control and not having any speed limitations. The fun of swinging with grappling hooks and the amazing feel of acceleration makes a great combination in this game.

“You play as a “human body” which is under control of two souls, the human himself and soul of the dead ancient thunder dragon, Naezith!”
