Cubicolor out on Steam

developed by Moltenplay  |  Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux

[gfycat data_id="PolishedKindheartedCicada"][gfycat data_id=""]

“A minimalist puzzle game with soothing piano music.

“The rules are simple: Match the color patches on the board and reach the exit, all on one single path. Every tile can only be touched once before it falls into nothingness. The game features 50 different levels and gets harder as you progress, always accompanying you with relaxing piano tunes.”

You can pick it up on Steam for $1.99 (or your regional equivalent).  There’s also a thread going on Reddit where you can pop the creator some questions about the development process.

2D Puzzle Platformer

developed by FunVenture  |  Platforms: Unannounced

[gfycat data_id="JollyDazzlingIbadanmalimbe"][gfycat data_id="PerkyVapidHawaiianmonkseal"][gfycat data_id="BelovedReasonableJuliabutterfly"]

This a 2D sidescrolling platformer with puzzle elements.  It’s still early in development, pretty much moving from a prototype to an alpha stage.  I don’t normally cover stuff this early (some more gameplay would be nice) but I liked the art style and the main character gave me flashbacks to Cloudface.  They’re really not similar, but my brain can make major leaps. :P

Maybe something to keep an eye on, you can follow along on Twitter.

developed by Vivid Helix  |  Platforms: Windows, Mac, & Linux

[gfycat data_id="DeadlyHomelyAfricanhornbill"][gfycat data_id=""]

“A single-player co-op stealth puzzler where you simultaneously control two characters in connected parallel realities. The game is a mix of mind-bending puzzles and motor coordination challenges. Later levels introduce the co-op aspect of the game where the two sides need to work together (sometimes simultaneously) to progress.”

Semispheres was chosen to be one of the 15 games in the Indie Mega Booth at GDC this year, which will be March 14-18th in San Francisco.  There are some really great games being showcased, you can check them out here.

Also, if you’re a gamedev, you can take a look at the walkthroughs of how to create shaders for the heat distortion effect here, and the portal effect here.
