“A tiny stained-glass point-n-click adventure about laziness and her herald.

“This game is about a lazy guy. One day, his evil employer makes him work, and that’s where everything starts to go awry.

“And yes, this lazy dude is a herald. You may actually know a few heralds, those guys who appear at the beginning of every story, looking for the hero in an attempt to deliver that “call to adventure” thingy, right before the interesting stuff starts to happen. That’s exactly the job our guy must do. Find a hero, give him or her a call to adventure, and be done with it. No exploits, no saving the world stuff. What can possibly go wrong?”

Message Quest has just been released on Steam for PC, Mac, and Linux.  There’s a link to the demo on the website below; you can play in your browser or download it to your computer.  Don’t judge the voice acting by the trailer, as it’s much better in the game (at least, from playing the demo).

“A physics based platformer about rolling cardboard boxes; take part in an epic single player adventure and grab your friends for explosive local multiplayer races and battles!”

“Unbox was created during the December UE4 Game Jam and inspired by the games we played and loved while growing up. From the competitive and frenetic action of Goldeneye to the expansive exploration of Super Mario 64, there are threads of old school design woven throughout Unbox.”

Sym

developed by ATRAX

[gfycat data_id="DeepWholeAnemoneshrimp"]

“A puzzle-platformer that explores social anxiety disorder. Play as Josh, a teenage boy trying to reconcile a maze of two contrasting worlds that coexist within the blank spaces of each other – his perception of reality, and the world he created to avoid his fears.”

The Steam reviews are pretty positive, though it seems to depend on whether you have an interest in depression/anxiety, as the gameplay is reportedly simplistic.  I really like the concept of dealing with human issues through the medium of games, and I also really like the art style, so thought I would share. :)

“A mix between a visual novel life management sim, and a 2D beat’em all,  with a dose of fantasy luchadores and superhero costumes, entirely hand-drawn and animated.

“The aim is to help Honey, the titular character, balance her life as she needs to juggle between her daytime at university, and her nocturnal fighting persona. She wishes to reach the heights of fame through a fighting tournament, but she has only six month to do so before the tournament is up and her studies take her elsewhere.”

Currently in development for PC, using Contruct 2.  The developer hopes to bring it to other platforms (Vita!), if able.  No set release date, but you can follow the progress over on the TIGForums here (also a lot more to see).
