“A rogue-lite river journey through the backwaters of a forgotten post-societal America. Forage, craft, evade predators.

“Travel by foot and by raft down a procedurally-generated river as you scrounge for resources, craft tools, remedy afflictions, evade the vicious wildlife, and most importantly, stay ahead of the coming rains.”

It’s out on Steam and Xbox One today.  Love the art direction.

A pixel art roguelite platformer heading to Steam Early Access in March.

“Caveblazers is a singleplayer game which attempts to emulate a multiplayer experience by incorporating random encounters with other “players”. These “players” are AI controlled characters which behave like other players and have randomized behavioral characteristics which will depict how they interact with other players. Some will follow and help you, some will run from you, and some will be aggressive towards you.”

“A roguelite platformer that lets you explore a beautiful world of flying islands with randomly generated caves, monsters and treasures. Climb your way to the top while combining items for unique combat effects each run and enjoy the mix of retro aesthetics and modern effects.”

Path to the Sky just released on Steam Early Access today.  Dek has been active in the /r/gamedev community for a long time, and seeing the game grow from the first gif that I remember (of wavy grass/plants) has been pretty cool.  So, congrats. :)

A roguelike that contains no text, only pictograms which emulate the ancient Egyptian setting that the game is set in.

“A Prussian adventurer gets lost in an ancient Egyptian pyramid buried deep under the sand of the desert, full of traps and monstrous beings. He must decrypt hieroglyphs to learn spells and to understand the magical nature of armour and weapons.”

“A post-apocalyptic roguelike-like top-down shooter. Not ‘the final hope of humanity’ post-apocalyptic, but ‘humanity is extinct and mutants and monsters now roam the world’ post-apocalyptic. Fight your way through the wastelands with powerful weaponry, collecting radiation to mutate some new limbs and abilities. All these things and more you could do if only you were good at this game. Can you reach the Nuclear Throne?”

This just came out of Early Access and is now available on Steam (as well as PS4 and Vita) with pretty great reviews so far.

Streets of Rogue

“A rogue-lite about player choice, freedom, and anarchic fun. The game takes inspiration from fast-paced top-down rogue-lites like Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne, and adds free-form, experimentation-driven, emergent gameplay elements of RPGs like Deus Ex. Rather than taking place in a dungeon, the game is set in a functioning, procedurally generated city, where complex AI informs denizens from all walks of life, who are just trying to get by in their daily activities.”

Still in early development for PC, you can watch this development blog video to get a bit more info on the game.

Steredenn

developed by Pixelnest Studio

[gfycat data_id="DarlingUnevenAfricanpiedkingfisher"]

“A frenetic and chaotic space shooter, carved in big beautiful pixels, with insane boss battles. Embark in your ship and engage the fight against dreadful space pirates in a never-ending combat for your survival.

“Steredenn is at the crossroads between a shmup and a rogue-like. Enjoy the infinite replayability of the game with its unforgiving gameplay, intense boss fights, (almost) randomly generated environments, twisted space events and a surprisingly large arsenal of weapons. Enhance your ship during your flight with many upgrades and forge your own path across the universe!”

It recently released for Windows and Mac, and the Steam reviews are really positive, check it out below.  I made a simple post about it 6 months ago, nice to see it releasing. :)

Everspace

[gfycat data_id="GlossySaneArcticduck"][gfycat data_id="TastyGenuineIndianpangolin"][gfycat data_id="ConstantFavorableAmericanalligator"][gfycat data_id="OrganicHorribleGavial"][gfycat data_id="KindFlimsyGreatwhiteshark"]

A gorgeous rogue-like space shooter.   Everspace promises to have a much richer story than regular rogue-likes, while having more action oriented gameplay than regular space sims.  After you die you are able to use the resources you’ve gained to upgrade your starting ship, so hopefully things will go more smoothly the next time.

Currently in development for PC, Mac, and Linux.  It recently completed a successful Kickstarter, raising €420,252.
