“A multiplayer microbiology based Real Time Strategy Game.

“You play as a scientist with the power to genetically modify your microbe to cure the worst diseases and protect humanity, or wreak havoc on the world with engineered mayhem. Playing around with the traditional RTS genre, CURE adds a unique upgrading system that you would normally find in an RPG.

“As you play, you can custom tailor your units using genetic engineering, and these changes are permanent. You can focus crafting a team that has a specific ability, and/or you can specialize your units so that they have specific properties – such as strength or speed. The more you play, the more you can create an ideal team to conquer your online opponents.”

A retro space strategy inspired by a mix of BattleStar Galactica and FTL.  I recommend reading through the Kickstarter as there seems to be quite a lot of depth mixed with tough managerial decisions.  Currently in development for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

“Command a ragtag fleet of starships against an unbeatable enemy. You’ll be evacuating refugees, scrounging for resources, overcoming political treachery, and assembling your flock from one jump point to the next. Your goal is to lead what’s left of humanity out of reach from the unknown threat that pursues.”

You command a group of 4 agents through rain-soaked, neon-lit streets, where the law is the will of mega-corporations. Use your agents to sneak, shoot, steal, and sabotage your way up the corporate ladder, and take control of the most powerful monopoly of all time.”

I really like the music in the teaser trailer.  Satellite Reign is currently on Steam Early Access with pretty good reviews, and seems to get regular updates.

Abatron

devloped by the Abatron team.

An FPS and RTS hybrid.  Double clicking on a unit takes you into the FPS mode.  You can play as much or as little of that view as you like, and seamlessly switch back to the RTS mode at any time.  There’s a single player campaign, as well as up to eight people in multiplayer.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this type of thing done well, so hopefully this one turns out OK. :)

Istrolid

developed by treeform.

A colourful online RTS that can be played in your browser (Chrome recommended).  Still in early development.  Build your ships out of various parts and try to take the control points on the map.  You can try the challenge modes to fight against the AI, or maybe give the developer a ping if no one is online. :)

Survivor Squad: Gauntlets

developed by Endless Loop Studios.

A squad management action and strategy game.  You control your squad member’s line of sight, and whhen in the dark can only see in the cone where they are looking.  Work your way through various traps to get to the extraction zone while fighting off the infected.

There’s also a robust level editor that allows you to build your own scenarios and share them with the community.

Currently in Steam Early Access, with a bunch of positive reviews.
