Battalion 1944

developed by Bulkhead Interactive  |  Platforms: Windows, Xbox One, PS4

[gfycat data_id="VacantPertinentFalcon"][gfycat data_id="EvergreenCalmGrayling"][gfycat data_id="SnarlingNastyBushbaby"]

“An infantry based first person shooter with an emphasis on raw skill. No grinding, no ‘exosuits’, just you and your skill as a player.”

It might be nostalgia but I think I miss this type of old school shooter.  I’ve been longing for the WW2 theme, but going full throwback to a time without kill streaks or vehicles sounds pretty interesting.  It is multiplayer only however (which is fine by me).  It’s already shot past its Kickstarter goal with over 3 weeks to go, you can check it out below.

The Bug Butcher

developed by Awfully Nice Studios  |  Platforms:  Windows, Mac, Linux

[gfycat data_id="HappyInconsequentialJaguarundi"][gfycat data_id="MagnificentUnderstatedAmericancicada"][gfycat data_id="IdealisticKindIndianglassfish"]

“An action-packed 2D side scrolling shoot em up game where peril comes from above. So in a nutshell, pest control with machine guns in space.

“The core mechanics hold old ties from the classic arcade shooter “Super Pang” where you shoot vertically, but with modern day twists. You are Harry, a brash and tenacious exterminator who has a knack for decimating bugs.”

Made by two former Blizzard employees; the art is so well drawn and animated!  It came out of early access and released on Steam today.

A crazy single player tank shooter where you have to defend against an alien invasion in over the top battles.  There’s a demo available which you can download below.  I think I was sold after the tank deployed from the sky but I haven’t been able to give the demo a try yet, hopefully it plays as well as it looks. Currently scheduled for release in Summer 2016.

“A team of indie-developers are excited to present a new single player project will offer you a spectacular journey through destroyed cities, with epic battles, a gripping storyline and a cool tank, a good mood is guaranteed!”
