A class based multiplayer FPS in development for PC, Mac, and Linux.   It’s currenlty on Steam Early Access with mostly positive reviews, though at the moment seems to be suffering from low server population.  It’s being developed in Unreal Engine 4.

Rocket League

developed by Psyonix

[gfycat data_id="SardonicLimpingArgentineruddyduck"]

“A futuristic Sports-Action game, Rocket League, equips players with booster-rigged vehicles that can be crashed into balls for incredible goals or epic saves across multiple, highly-detailed arenas. Using an advanced physics system to simulate realistic interactions,Rocket League relies on mass and momentum to give players a complete sense of intuitive control in this unbelievable, high-octane re-imagining of association football.”

I’ve been playing so much of this I thought I would make a post about it; it’s really been sucking up most of my time.  It’s so infuriatingly joyously frustrating.  I’ve reached the point where I know what I’m supposed to do, but actually executing it usually fails miserably.   In the clip below I had just learned how to back flip, and thought it would be a great idea to use this super fancy skill to save the ball from going into the goal.  I’m not sure how I thought that was going to happen.  Ah well. >.<

An online team based king of the hill brawler based on the ‘Warlock’ mod from Warcraft 3.   It’s still in an alpha stage of development (PC/Mac/Linux) and going through an improvement in the art style, so expect it to look even better in the future. :)  The stages will be dynamic (with various hazards) and there will be various abilities that you can choose from to design your own “class”.

A minimalist action-strategy in development for PC (with plans for consoles).  The main mode is multiplayer, though there is a single player challenge mode as well.

“It is played on a grid of black and white tiles where each player is restricted to either side. Players flip tiles towards their color to gain control and close in on the enemy. With every action changing the play space, each round evolves into a unique battle field.”

“A two-dimensional cooperative adventure game with emphasis on traversal, discovery and companionship. Explore, solve puzzles and unravel a mystery together. Whether you decide to play Yonder by yourself or cooperatively, the adventure will revolve around interactions between the characters of the game and their surroundings.”

Currently being developed by two brothers for PC, Mac, and consoles, with a release date in 2016.  You can follow the development on the TIGForums.

Apologies for the gif quality.  The footage available mostly includes the awesome lighting, which makes getting a 256 colour gif at the correct size (that looks good) really difficult.  Dreaming of the day when Tumblr supports HTML5 “gifs”.

“A 2D platform game set in a procedurally generated world. Go wherever you want in a vast world which is different every time you play. Find and collect loot to customize and enhance your character. Trade with, threaten or fight survivors to get what you need.

Beat permadeath, by unlocking checkpoints and new features for future playthroughs. Uncover the many secrets this world has to offer and destroy a great evil within – alone, or with a friend.”

Still in very early development, but the art style already looks pretty great, and I’m excited about another co-op roguelike.

Local four player arena deathmatch in a pseudo Spaghetti Western world, with a mix of gameplay from Super Smash Brothers and Towerfall.  There are a few different modes such as deathmatch, capture the flag, and a mobile king of the kill.

The developer promises that all DLC will be free, which is such a refreshing change from what seems to be becoming the norm.

[gfycat data_id="PeskyEasygoingAiredaleterrier"]tetrapulse bluetetrapulse beam[gfycat data_id="FrayedLeafyHalibut"]tetrapulse yellowtetrapulse rd[gfycat data_id="FaintFaroffAzurewingedmagpie"]

A co-op action game for two to four players.  While moving around the world you must carry around and protect a relic which restores your energy when holding it.  Shooting your laser drains your energy, so you have to balance between the two, and coordinate with your partner so that you don’t drain yourself of energy and get overrun.
