Voidspeed Outlaw

“A fast-paced retro-futuristic racer set on Mars. Rendered in low def pseudo 3D.

“Mars 21XX. Ever since you were a toddler you’ve always dreamt of being a racer in the system-wide Voidspeed Racing League. You saved your money, pieced together a junk ship, and raced in wasteland all-or-nothing outlaw leagues. You’ve been noticed by the street scene and have built a pretty competent racer, but the races are incredibly illegal and run by the Martian underground. You can take favors to climb the ranks, but all debts must be paid.

“The path to the VRL is steep, full of corruption and death, but it’s all you’ve ever dreamt of. And you don’t accept defeat.”

“A hyperfuturistic omnidirectional racing game. It is a crossover between classical arcade racing and free flying. You can fly around the tracks freely, but ‘snapping’ to any surface spins the ship around and gives you an extra speed boost. The notions of up and down become irellevant in the progressively more winding levels. This gives players the possibility to find their own lines through the levels and to perfect them for both speed and style.”

“A physics-based survival racing game where YOU are the bicycle. Learn to ride a bicycle in an artistic fashion! Grab some controllers and crash into ride with your friends!”

There should be three worlds and ten levels on release (in addition to ride through procedurally generated levels), as well as support for up to 4 players in a split screen mode (the gifs show 3 player split screen).

Thumper

developed by DROOL  |  Platforms: Windows, PS4, VR

“Thumper combines classic rhythm-action with breakneck speed and brutal physicality. You are a space beetle hurtling towards a maniacal giant head from the future.”

“With one analog stick and one button, you control a space beetle while hurtling through stunning and treacherous worlds.  Each rhythmic hit, crash, and impact is interwoven with an original soundtrack by Brian Gibson of the acclaimed noise-rock band Lightning Bolt.

“There’s no blood or gore, but you’ll feel the violence.”

I wanted to make some more varied gifs, but I’d need more footage to get a nice cross section of imagery.  I’ll definitely be looking into making another post sometime down the line.  Absolutely love the aesthetic and music in the new trailer.

A futuristic arcade racing game with a low-poly art style; in development for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows.   It reminds me a lot of Wipeout (which I love!  and miss); though the ships gain experience through racing and can be upgraded.  There’s no online multiplayer, but you can race against AI or up to 4 players locally.

“A futuristic Sports-Action game, Rocket League, equips players with booster-rigged vehicles that can be crashed into balls for incredible goals or epic saves across multiple, highly-detailed arenas. Using an advanced physics system to simulate realistic interactions,Rocket League relies on mass and momentum to give players a complete sense of intuitive control in this unbelievable, high-octane re-imagining of association football.”

I’ve been playing so much of this I thought I would make a post about it; it’s really been sucking up most of my time.  It’s so infuriatingly joyously frustrating.  I’ve reached the point where I know what I’m supposed to do, but actually executing it usually fails miserably.   In the clip below I had just learned how to back flip, and thought it would be a great idea to use this super fancy skill to save the ball from going into the goal.  I’m not sure how I thought that was going to happen.  Ah well. >.<
