This is from the Kickstarter trailer of Unraveled: Tale of the Shipbreaker’s Daughter, a pixel art adventure RPG. The in-game art is a bit different (like Secret of Mana). I’ll most likely be doing a full post this weekend. Stay tuned!
The movement in the forest scene might be a little hard to see if you’re on a small screen, click to expand, or you can see the higher resolution versions on imgur.
I quite enjoyed playing through this recently. I really liked the atmosphere and the main characters (the story was rather anticlimactic to me), and kind of just wanted to hang out with my fox most of the time. Hence. I decided to make a bunch of GIFs of us relaxing in various spots.
As you can see, we went to the beach, went swimming, and even had time to go to a musical concert. ;)
I did a bit of searching to see what kind of Never Alone GIFs were on Tumblr already, and I came across this awesome illustration by Abigail L. Dela Cruz (“hyamei”) which kinda sums up what I like about the game.
I played through Never Alone for the first time this week. It definitely had its share of faults, but there was a lot to like about it. Overall a good experience with lots of random cute/touching moments like this. I recorded a bunch of footage and will probably make a collection of GIFs this weekend, but I thought this one deserved its own space.
This took forever, and it’s far from perfect. Learned a lot about what type of video to use for a cinemagraph in order avoid headaches. Way too much motion and lighting changes in Ori, which look great! but are stressful to remove. >.<
A mobile adventure of a lowly peasant out to find coins and treasure. Once you start moving you can’t stop until you hit an object, though you may change your direction by swiping on the screen. There are a lot of traps, and death is assured.
A rhythm game with tense chest-rumbling music and sound effects.
“Thumper combines classic rhythm-action with speed and physicality. You control a space beetle while careening towards confrontation with an insane giant head from the future.”
I got really taken in by the aesthetic and sound in the trailer, so I decided to treat myself for reaching 500 followers. =) Which meant pulling out my hair learning GIMP over the weekend. >.< Though I think it was worth it; in the top GIF I edited out some items on the pathway, so that it would look a bit more endless.
An actual (super?) metroidvania that’s been in development for a few years, and is hopefully coming out at the end of 2015. While it definitely looks like a modern Super Metroid, the game is also supposed to borrow elements from Dark Souls. No hand holding with the gameplay. :) The mix definitely gives it a great looking atmosphere.
I suppose I got caught up in the hype storm this caused yesterday. I didn’t find it on reddit and there’s not much gameplay to show, but I felt compelled to make some GIFs from the trailer.
It seems to have materialized out of nowhere, which has some people wondering if it’s a real thing. Regardless, we can still enjoy the pretties. :)
