I thought the day/night transition was quite cool; I also wanted to do a low-key post since I figure most people are busy with Thanksgiving and Black Friday. For everyone else (like me), sorry!
An online and local multiplayer top down twin-stick shooter. Currently there are 22 weapons and the ammo available is low which forces you to switch your weapons and gameplay tactics often. It’s in development for PC and Linux, you can vote for it on Steam Greenlight below.
A voxel based MMO in development for PC, Android, and iOS. I haven’t seen any dragons yet. ;)
“Explore endless magical worlds and battle fearsome creatures alongside millions of friends. Unleash your imagination by crafting beautiful buildings.
“Play as the quirky builder, the fearless fighter, the perky scout or the mysterious sorceress and become the legend you were destined to be! Every hero is voice acted, so you are never lost for words.”
“A multiplayer space sim involving hundreds of players ( per server, without instancing ) split across three competing corporations of the Starfold Confederacy fighting for control of a procedurally generated, true to scale solar system filled with dozens of planets, moons, asteroid belts, and other celestial phenomenon, all having different environments that can affect the gameplay ( wind, storms, lightning in a gas giant, volcanoes, tornadoes.. ).
“Seamless planetary transitions will bring combat from deep space to the surface of alien worlds. The primary goal will be to destroy your enemies and their infrastructure through orbital bombardment from capital ships and/or an array of smaller spacecraft including bombers, interceptors, and corvettes.”
“A multiplayer game designed for up to 8 players to play together and break each other apart. Everyone is a skeleton, but no one is particularly attached to their limbs. Break your friends legs off and take them for yourself.”
Developed by a group of students in Australia, you can download The Skeleton War from the indieDB link here. There are currently two modes; Bone Collector, which rewards points for collecting the limbs of other players, and Dye Another Day, where you have to collect limbs that match the colour of your torso.
It’s meant to be played across a LAN, but you can also host a game with your friends online. Here is the guide to set it up.
A class based multiplayer FPS in development for PC, Mac, and Linux. It’s currenlty on Steam Early Access with mostly positive reviews, though at the moment seems to be suffering from low server population. It’s being developed in Unreal Engine 4.
“A futuristic Sports-Action game, Rocket League, equips players with booster-rigged vehicles that can be crashed into balls for incredible goals or epic saves across multiple, highly-detailed arenas. Using an advanced physics system to simulate realistic interactions,Rocket League relies on mass and momentum to give players a complete sense of intuitive control in this unbelievable, high-octane re-imagining of association football.”
I’ve been playing so much of this I thought I would make a post about it; it’s really been sucking up most of my time. It’s so infuriatingly joyously frustrating. I’ve reached the point where I know what I’m supposed to do, but actually executing it usually fails miserably. In the clip below I had just learned how to back flip, and thought it would be a great idea to use this super fancy skill to save the ball from going into the goal. I’m not sure how I thought that was going to happen. Ah well. >.<
An online team based king of the hill brawler based on the ‘Warlock’ mod from Warcraft 3. It’s still in an alpha stage of development (PC/Mac/Linux) and going through an improvement in the art style, so expect it to look even better in the future. :) The stages will be dynamic (with various hazards) and there will be various abilities that you can choose from to design your own “class”.
“A multiplayer flight racing game in which players build and pilot an Airskiff – the equivalent of a hang glider augmented with rocket engines. Players will compete in short and brutal online races against other pilots and their creations. Once pilots barrel through the track, they are thrown back into the garage area, where players can change their strategy for the next race by swapping out parts on their Airskiff.”
A minimalist action-strategy in development for PC (with plans for consoles). The main mode is multiplayer, though there is a single player challenge mode as well.
“It is played on a grid of black and white tiles where each player is restricted to either side. Players flip tiles towards their color to gain control and close in on the enemy. With every action changing the play space, each round evolves into a unique battle field.”
