“An abstract puzzle game about time travel and paradoxes.
“You are given the ability to jump through time, and are tasked with exploiting its counter-intuitive consequences. You must learn to choreograph your actions across multiple timelines, and to create strange loops of cause and effect, where the future depends on the past and the past depends on the future.”
“A first person puzzle game built with Unreal Engine 4 where gravity moves and shifts as you do and which way is up depends on where you’re standing.
“Puzzles involve not just what is in front of you, but what is above and around you. Ceilings become floors requiring you to think beyond regular spaces and see the whole interconnected area.”
An exploration and puzzle game that’s been in development for quite some time for PC and PS4. It’s inspired by Myst, and I love the art style.
This seemed to be hiding for a while, but they’ve finally announced a release date, which will be January 26th, 2016. Really looking forward to playing and making cinemagraphs of it. :)
A colourful mobile puzzle platformer; now out on iOS.
“In Super Happy Fun Block, color and reality are intertwined. Players change the color of the world in order to phase out matching Blocks. New color-based mechanics and obstacles are steadily introduced into the game, ramping up complexity and forcing players to always think in new ways.”
I’ve been meaning to make these for a while, of my play through a couple of months ago. I thought the game was pretty decent (I think it got over-hyped for me unfortunately, which skewed my expectations), but I really liked the sort of minimalistic art style and thought some of the scenes made for good moving pictures.
For those who don’t know, The Unfinished Swan is a light exploration/puzzle game where you move around in an unfinished world shooting paint to reveal objects and solve puzzles. You can see more on the Playstation page or check the trailer below.
Semisphere is a stealth puzzle game where you control two characters which affect each other’s worlds. It recently went through an art change (old art style here), and the developer has written a bit about the methods used to create the different effects (in Unity).
A puzzle platformer inspired by Splatoon. It reminds me a lot of the mechanics of Unfinished Swan (probably because I just finished it), which seems like a really neat idea for a platformer.
It’s still early in development for PC, and the art is far from final. CloudPop Games also made Layers and Drop, which you can see here.
“A single-player co-op stealth puzzle game. You control both sides at the same time. It’s a mix between tricky puzzles and brain-twisting left-right hand coordination.”
“You play the part of a young child, lost in the depths of a mysterious castle that’s part museum, part death trap. Explore more than 300 rooms, solve physical puzzles, bring ancient machinery to life, and uncover hidden areas as you work your way safely outside.”
