An action puzzle game where you string blocks together and build up combos like Dr. Mario, but with special characters. The heroes and villains have unique moves that you can execute which can greatly affect the gameplay and swamp your opponent’s board.
A 2D pixel art platformer with a focus on exploration. Help Nub’s rebuild his house with the help of his friends, a wisp and a giant worm with teeth (who as far as I’ve seen doesn’t look that friendly). It’s in development for PC and mobile, and you can already play an early access version on Android.
The wisp reminds me a bit of Navi from Zelda, but hopefully won’t be as annoying. Speaking of…
19th century roguelike exploration. Select a group of unstable travellers…I mean intrepid explorers, and attempt to complete an expedition to find a golden pyramid before everyone goes insane, kills each other, or is killed by everything else.
It’s an HTML 5 game that you can play in your browser, but is also coming to Steam. You can pay to get access to the alpha, and get the full game on release (similar to Steam early access). It was actually free to play over the weekend, which I discovered on Monday. Boo. :(
You can check out a nice let’s play by Brendan McLeod which gives a good look at how the game plays.
I’ve been following Daniel Mackey for a little while and I’m a big fan of his Pokemon series. Every now and then I get art commissioned for games I post on my blog, and the colours of the Pokemon series reminded me of A Quiver of Crows, so I thought it would be a good fit (plus getting to sort of collaborate with an artist you admire is pretty cool too).
You can see what the game looks like below, but be sure to check out the original post as the one image doesn’t really encapsulate the whole feel, and if I post more than one I might get carried away.
A 2D side scrolling shooter. Play as a cute…err..vicious killing machine tasked with saving the humans from an evil AI. The funds from the game will go to GamesAid, which helps disabled and disadvantaged young people.
A 2D action RPG with gameplay inspired by Demon’s Souls, and huge boss encounters like those in Shadow of the Colossus. "Become the agent of death, and rid this world of immortals.“
I don’t usually reblog, but I saw this on PixelArtus before it popped up at my usual source, and I would pretty much be using the same GIFS (except that duplicated slashing one, gggrrrrr…must…control…OCD). So, thanks to them. :)
The poster for Death’s Gambit was done by kaisinel who has done some other really awesome stuff (another example below). Definitely take a peek at the art on their blog.
“Your world is attacked by a game update, fatally patching everything you know and love. Out numbered and out versioned you must fight through the patch’s army and destroy it.”
I’m not sure if the box has eyes or guns, but if those are googly eyes then I’m on board.
