Flat Heroes

developed by InspectorRoar & LemonBits  |  Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux

[gfycat data_id="SmugWellgroomedKoalabear"][gfycat data_id="TerriblePaltryBovine"][gfycat data_id="ParallelAgreeableDiplodocus"]

A minimalist local multiplayer game.  The gameplay looks really smooth so far, and the developers are still testing out new effects/challenges. It should be going up on Greenlight within a few months.

I only had to make the gif below, so it’s been a relaxing Sunday.  Enjoy!

Apparently it’s not Sunday, it was still a good day. :)

The art makes me weak in my knees.  A new trailer came out today and the release date was announced as March 31st for PC, with a console date to follow.  I did back this on Kickstarter, it’s been a long wait!  Looks worth it.

“Echoes of a dark and violent past resonate throughout a savage land, steeped in treasure and blood. Hyper Light Drifter is an action adventure RPG in the vein of the best 16bit classics, with modernized mechanics and designs on a much grander scale.

“Drifters of this world are the collectors of forgotten knowledge, lost technologies and broken histories. Our Drifter is haunted by an insatiable illness, traveling further into the lands of Buried Time, hoping to discover a way to quiet the vicious disease.”

“Fight your way free in our frenzied all-boss fighter, and discover what’s waiting behind the last gate. Furi is all about the tension of one-on-one fights against deadly adversaries. It’s an intense, ultra-responsive game with a unique mix of fast-paced sword fighting and dual-stick shooting.”

“Each of the formidable guardians —designed by Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki— has a unique and surprising combat style that requires focus and skill to defeat.”

The soundtrack is composed by Carpenter Brut, and so far sounds great!  If you like synthwave, you can take a listen in the trailer below.

Cubicolor out on Steam

developed by Moltenplay  |  Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux

[gfycat data_id="PolishedKindheartedCicada"][gfycat data_id=""]

“A minimalist puzzle game with soothing piano music.

“The rules are simple: Match the color patches on the board and reach the exit, all on one single path. Every tile can only be touched once before it falls into nothingness. The game features 50 different levels and gets harder as you progress, always accompanying you with relaxing piano tunes.”

You can pick it up on Steam for $1.99 (or your regional equivalent).  There’s also a thread going on Reddit where you can pop the creator some questions about the development process.

developed by BitByByte Creations  |  Platforms: Windows, Mac, & Linux

[gfycat data_id="SnivelingHopefulFeline"][gfycat data_id="ScholarlyBoringAkitainu"][gfycat data_id="ShadyQuerulousArmyant"]

“A 2D physics-based multiplayer shooter where players control one of various drone ships armed to the teeth, navigating around a circular planet level, dodging missiles and blasting their enemies to pieces and reveling on the glory of their defeat! At it’s core we want a straightforward multiplayer action game that’s easy to get into, but offers enough depth to keep players interested for a bit longer.”

“A multiplayer microbiology based Real Time Strategy Game.

“You play as a scientist with the power to genetically modify your microbe to cure the worst diseases and protect humanity, or wreak havoc on the world with engineered mayhem. Playing around with the traditional RTS genre, CURE adds a unique upgrading system that you would normally find in an RPG.

“As you play, you can custom tailor your units using genetic engineering, and these changes are permanent. You can focus crafting a team that has a specific ability, and/or you can specialize your units so that they have specific properties – such as strength or speed. The more you play, the more you can create an ideal team to conquer your online opponents.”

Thumper

developed by DROOL  |  Platforms: Windows, PS4, VR

“Thumper combines classic rhythm-action with breakneck speed and brutal physicality. You are a space beetle hurtling towards a maniacal giant head from the future.”

“With one analog stick and one button, you control a space beetle while hurtling through stunning and treacherous worlds.  Each rhythmic hit, crash, and impact is interwoven with an original soundtrack by Brian Gibson of the acclaimed noise-rock band Lightning Bolt.

“There’s no blood or gore, but you’ll feel the violence.”

I wanted to make some more varied gifs, but I’d need more footage to get a nice cross section of imagery.  I’ll definitely be looking into making another post sometime down the line.  Absolutely love the aesthetic and music in the new trailer.
